11-Year-Old Boy Killed After Deer Causes Buford Wreck
The head-on collision happened at about 10 p.m. on Buford Highway.

An 11-year-old boy was killed Wednesday night after a deer in the road on Buford Highway caused two vehicles to collide.
Police say Andrew Caymol was in the passenger seat of his father’s Honda Accord which was traveling north on Buford Highway at about 10 p.m. when it collided with a Subaru Legacy being driven south by Yagi Fumio, 28, of Suwanee.
A deer had leaped onto the highway and struck the Subaru, causing Fumio to swerve and strike the Honda, being driven by Mateo Caymol, 47, head-on, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Firefighters were able to put out a fire caused by the wreck, but Andrew died in the vehicle from injuries suffered in the collision, police said.
They say neither Andrew nor his father appeared to have been wearing safety belts. It was unclear Thursday whether Andrew’s brother Matthew, 13, who was in the back seat of the Honda, was restrained.

The three others in the crash were suffering from serious injuries, according to police. They were transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.
No charges were filed a the scene against either driver.
The crash happened in front of 1180 Buford Highway in Buford.
