A Buford-area restaurant was cited for several violations in failing a health department inspection this week.

According to Gwinnett County health inspection results, the Stevi B’s Pizza location at 1950 Buford Mill Drive scored a 63/U (69 and below is failing) on Feb. 23.
Among the violations were mold-like buildup inside an ice machine, water leaking from a sink drain line and sanitizer buckets stored near food (see more below).

A follow-up inspection is required within 10 days of the inspection date.

Observations: The Person in Charge (PIC) unable to convey knowledge of the employee health policy; unable to state the 5 diseases, all of the 5 symptoms, and Regulatory Authority reporting requirements. Employee drinks (in bottle, in cups with no lids/straws) found in the kitchen. Some drinks were stored next to food and pans. Cloth towel, sponges stored on hand sink. Items removed at time of inspection. A handwashing sink shall be maintained so that it is accessible at all times for employee use. Multiple dented cans found on can rack. Mold-like buildup inside the ice machine. Pizza sauce not cooling at an adequate cooling rate. Soap solution and sanitizer solution, which are used to clean the dining tables, were not labeled. Sanitizer buckets stored adjacent to food, pizza pan rack, on the front of house storage shelves. Pasta, pizza sauce cooling in deep, covered, plastic food containers, below food held cold, on the bottom shelf of the walkin cooler. Scoop handles were stored in direct contact with food in the cold top cooler. Both quat test kits were damaged; quat sanitizer solution is used in the sanitizer buckets & in the dish sink. Sticker residue left on clean food containers. Dust buildup on the walkin cooler fan guards. Mold-like buildup on the nonfood contact surface of the self-service drink dispenser ice chute. Carbon-buildup on the pizza pans. Water leaking from the prep sink drain line, onto the floor below. Follow-up within 10 days.
