Lake Lanier Islands Resort® has officially issued its last call for the 2012 Georgia’s Island Stage Concert Series at the beautiful lakeside Peachtree Point Amphitheater. Bringing a “clean finish” to an exciting season filled with a colorful collection of talent and incomparable entertainment, the iconic Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is scheduled to rock the night away on Saturday, September 15, 2012 beginning at 8:00 p.m. Having toured all over the country while playing to large crowds of adoring fans, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is expected to cap off the resort’s summer concert series with an unforgettable music-filled evening.
With a slew of multi-platinum and gold records, Grammy Awards, and Country Music Association (CMA) Awards, and International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Awards to their credit, the wildly popular Country Rock and American Roots music group consists of profoundly influential musicians: Jeff Hanna, on guitars and vocals; Jimmie Fadden, on drums, harmonica and vocals; Bob Carpenter, on keyboards, accordion and vocals and John McEuen, on banjo, fiddle, guitar and mandolin. During their stop at Lake Lanier Islands Resort, fans can expect to hear hits like “Fishin’ In The Dark” and “Mr. Bojangles” as well as songs from Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s newest album, Speed of Life.

“We are very excited to have Nitty Gritty Dirt Band join us for the finale of the inaugural season of Georgia’s Island Stage Concert Series at Lake Lanier Islands Resort,” explains series host, Banks Burgess of the renowned Atlanta band, Banks & Shane. “It has been an amazing summer, featuring the talents of Gloriana, A1A and now the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. As part of the series, Banks & Shane celebrated our 40th Anniversary of entertaining Atlanta crowds at what is perhaps one of the most beautiful and incomparable venues we’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. Not only are the scenery and acoustics remarkable here, but the crowds have been truly terrific. Even though this season is not quite over, we’re already devising plans to make next year’s concert series bigger and better as word continues to spread about concerts at Lake Lanier Islands’ Peachtree Point Amphitheater.”
