Mall of Georgia To Host Memorial Day Weekend Blood Drive

BUFORD, GA -- The Mall of Georgia will be hosting a Red Cross blood drive on Memorial Day weekend.

The drive will be held 12-5 p.m. daily from Saturday, May 28, to Monday, May 30.

The event will be on the mall's upper level, near Dick's Sporting Goods.

Participants who donate blood will receive a free t-shirt for as long as supplies last.

According to the American Red Cross:

· Someone needs blood every two seconds in the United States.

· Just one pint of blood can save up to three lives.

· Approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed in the U.S. every day.

· Type O is the most requested by hospitals.

· Approximately 38% of the U.S. population is eligible to donate – yet less than 10 percent actually do.

· The American Red Cross supplies approximately 40% of the nation's blood supply.

The Mall of Georgia is located at 3333 Buford Dr. in Buford.
