Sexual Assault Charges Made Against Buford High Teacher

BUFORD, GA — A Buford teacher turned himself in Wednesday after Gwinnett County Police charged him with one count of sexual battery and one count of sexual assault.

Brad Elliott, 37, of Waleska, Ga., is currently in custody at the Gwinnett County Detention Center. His bail is set at $22,000.

Elliott was a teacher and football coach at Buford High School. Elliott is accused of sexual contact with two girls who were in his classes. Both incidents occurred on Buford High School property.

In one case, he's charged with sexual battery for unwanted touching of the victim’s buttocks during class. In the second case, it is for consensual sexual contact between Elliott and the girl. It is illegal for a teacher to have sexual contact with a student at their own school, even if both parties are over the age of consent. The second girl is over the age of consent, which is 16 in the State of Georgia.

Elliott recently resigned from Buford High School. He was previously a teacher at Roswell High School located in Roswell, Ga.

Detectives are investigating the possibility of additional victims and encourage them to come forward. Anyone who has information about additional victims or crimes involving Elliott is encouraged to contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300. Due to the nature of these crimes and the ages of the victims, records and reports pertaining to this incident have not be released.
