Listen to the recording of a man, allegedly the former Buford schools superintendent, going on a racist rant.

BUFORD, GA — The Buford school system's superintendent, Geye Hamby, resigned on Friday amid allegations he made racist comments towards black people which were captured on audio. He's alleged have said he wanted to kill black construction workers he was angry at, reports say, as well as a repeated racial slur in an audio clip obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Hamby had been named in a racial discrimination lawsuit, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. He tendered his resignation days after being placed on administrative leave over the allegations.

"My sincere apologies for any actions that may have created adversity for this community and the Buford School District," he wrote in the letter obtained by the Journal-Constitution. "Thank you for your many years of support and leadership."

Buford schools released a statement saying the board will likely take further action at a meeting "in the next several days," adding they'll remain focused on their mission "of empowering our students to reach their full potential."

Hamby is not addressing the allegations. The Journal-Constitution reported him as saying in a statement the district council advised him not to comment.

WSB reported there was a complaint filed against Hamby at the U.S. District Court in Atlanta.

Some of the more violent and damning phrases said by the man believed to be Hamby include an apparent description of an interaction between one man and black construction workers.

"Got deadbeat (n-word)... sitting there and one of them got smart," the voice said. "(expletive) that (n-word). I kill these damn — shoot that (expletive) if they let me."
