Unattended Heat Gun Apparently Sparks Minor Fire at Mall of GA

The fire was reported after 9 p.m. Wednesday at a cell-phone kiosk

A small fire at a Mall of Georgia kiosk forced a brief evacuation Wednesday night, according to Gwinnett Fire.

Mall security reported the fire, which was quickly doused with a portable extinguisher by a security officer, around 9:14 p.m. at a cell-phone kiosk near the entrance to Regal Cinemas, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was already out when firefighters arrived and was contained to paper within a cabinet. It was believed to be acidental and started by an unattended heat gun. No damage to the structure was reported.

Smoke from the fire was quickly cleared by the mall’s ventilation system.
