Wife, Friend Murder Father Of 3 For Insurance Money: Police
A man's wife and a family friend murdered a father of 3, police say. The man who was murdered gave the friend a job and a place to live.

BUFORD, GA — Two people have been arrested for their involvement in the murder of George Young on November 16, 2017. Tia Young, 42, and Harvey Timothy “Tim” Lee, 38, both from Buford, have each been charged with malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault. Tia was George’s wife at the time of the murder. They had three children together. Lee was a family friend who lived in the home with the Young family at the time of the murder.
Early on, the detective found evidence to suggest that Tia and Tim were involved in an intimate relationship. Though Tia originally claimed that Tim was a “cousin” or “brother” type of family member, there is nothing to suggest that they are related.
George, Tia, and Lee all knew each other from early adulthood. They were originally from South Carolina. When Lee become unemployed, George invited Tim to live with their family in Buford. George hired Lee to work with him at a security company.

The detective believes that the murder of George was financially motivated. George had a life insurance policy for a significant amount of money. Tia has not been able to collect on the policy, according to police.
The lead detective assigned to the case has been working closely with the District Attorney’s Office throughout the course of the investigation.
Tia and Lee were brought into GCPD Headquarters Monday afternoon. Both have denied any involvement in the murder of George. Following their interviews, they were transported to the Gwinnett County Jail.
