Canton Police Identify Double Homicide Victims

Police were dispatched to the scene of the shooting late Sunday evening in the area of Crisler Street and Jefferson Circle.

Updated at 8:29 p.m. CANTON, GA -- The Canton Police Department has identified the two men who were gunned down late Sunday evening at a home just outside downtown Canton.

William Kendrick Randall, 23, of Canton and 26-year-old Tony Samples of Ball Ground both died as a result of gunshot wounds fired at a home in the area of Crisler Street, the agency said.

Officers were dispatched to a shots fired call around 11:20 p.m. June 25 and arrived on the scene to find "several persons had been shot and seriously injured," Police Chief Mark Mitchell told Patch.

One male was found dead in the grassy area adjacent to Crisler Street and another male wounded at a home off Jefferson Circle. The neighborhood sits off East Main Street near St. Paul AME Church Annex.

Around the same time, police also discovered a male inside a vehicle who had been shot. Emergency medical crews rushed the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The wounded victim was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where he has been treated for non-life threatening injuries, the agency added. Chief Mitchell said Canton detectives will not release the third shooting victim's name at this time, as the investigation remains active.

Canton investigators and their counterparts with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office continue to gather witness statements and other clues to find a motive and persons of interest in the case.
