Police Identify Drivers Killed In Head-On Collision In Cherokee County

The two-vehicle accident was reported Tuesday morning along Highway 372 at the Etowah River bridge near Ball Ground.

BALL GROUND, GA -- Two men were killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle head-on crash in Cherokee County. Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to the accident at about 8 a.m. Oct. 10 along S.R. 372 at the Etowah River Bridge near Ball Ground, near where the highway intersects with Conns Creek Road.

Cherokee Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Marianne Kelley said it appears the Maxima was traveling westbound on the highway — also known as Ball Ground Road — and was trying to pass another vehicle when it crashed into the Genesis, which was traveling eastbound.

Kelley said the driver of the Hyundai, 39-year-old Ball Ground resident Robert McMullen, was pronounced dead at the scene, as was the driver of the Nissan, identified as Brent Burnette, 23, of Ellijay.

The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff's office's Traffic Enforcement Unit.
