Students from Creekview, Etowah, Sequoyah and Woodstock high schools received the honor.

Over two dozen seniors in the Cherokee County School District have been named National Merit Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

This recognition is based on the high scores the students earned on the PSAT.
Although these students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses that will be awarded in the spring.

The 27 students from the school district are:
- Creekview High School: Brian Dunn, Peyton Heath, Madeline Holman, Shae Jolly, Andrew Jones, Philip Lucksinger, Mackenna Reddy, David Wang;
- Etowah High School: Sam Donley, Ryan Grigsby, Galen Lee, Apple Liu, J.P. Shaw; and
- Sequoyah High School: Brianna D. Betor, Yeseul Heo, Caroline F. Kraczon, Preston C. Lowery, Kyle L. Renner;
- Woodstock High School: Kendall Alsup, Bryce Bergman, Kyle D. Confer, Victoria Halbrook, Mark C. Keenum, Ryan M. McCall, Griffin R. McNamara, Claudia Miklosik and Alexander D. Ziemecki.
