$50K+ Raised For Horses Killed In Ball Ground Farm Blaze

"We do not have words because we are in shock of this devastating loss," GoFundMe organizers said of the tragedy.

BALL GROUND, GA — The local community is coming together to support a Ball Ground farm, where 26 horses were recently killed in a fire.

Though nearly $51,000 has been raised for Blue Springs Farm through a GoFundMe, the farm said on Facebook other community fundraisers have been hosted to raise funding.

A barn blaze killed the horses on Aug. 6 at the Old Preserve Trail farm. No people were injured in the fire.

According to the GoFundMe, Blue Springs owned few of the horses while the Carney Performance Horse family owned the majority of them.

With a target goal of $70,000, $50,716 had been raised for Blue Springs as of 4 p.m. The fundraiser will benefit farm restoration, organizers said.

"We do not have words because we are in shock of this devastating loss. As we grieve our loss, we recognize what it is going to take to get back on our feet. As of right now, we are unsure of what started the fire," organizers said on the GoFundMe.

" ... All donations will go directly to Blue Springs Farm. We appreciate any and all donations. Most importantly, please keep everyone in our barn family, and especially the Blue family, in your thoughts and prayers as we grieve the loss of some amazing horses who have made immeasurable impacts on hundreds of lives."

A second GoFundMe, shared by Blue Springs on Facebook, will benefit Carney Performance. Of its $65,000 goal, $8,055 had been raised as of 4 p.m. Wednesday.

"These horses and clients that have been impacted are a huge part of the performance and show world. Our hearts hurt for everyone involved - the farm owners, the trainer and each individual family. We have created this GoFundMe to honor these individual clients and their families. There is nothing that could ever replace these horse and the bond these owner shared," organizers said on the Carney Performance GoFundMe.
