'Armed And Dangerous' Man Wanted On Burglary, Theft Charges

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office says Jacob Cole Henson, 25, is accused of stealing a 4-wheeler, pointing a gun at residents and burglary.

CANTON, GA — The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is on the hunt for a man accused of committing a slew of crimes over the last few weeks around the county. Jacob Cole Henson, 25, is wanted on several charges, including burglary, obstruction, fleeing and attempting to elude police, reckless conduct and reckless driving, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office said.

On Wednesday, Aug. 1, Henson was spotted driving a blue Dodge pickup truck with a blue Yamaha four-wheeler in the bed of the vehicle at the intersection of Fincher Road and Ga. 20/Knox Bridge Highway. A sheriff's deputy, who noticed the truck did not have a tag, tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the truck accelerated, continued on to Upper Sweetwater Trail and when it approached Oak Ridge Trail, it stopped to let a woman out of the truck.

"However, before the passenger was able to get completely out of the blue pickup, the driver accelerated and sped away, knocking the passenger to the pavement," the report states. The driver, identified as Henson, left the area in the truck. The woman refused treatment, and told the deputy that Henson allegedly took her truck from her house around 7 a.m. on that day.

The passenger, who said she hopped into the truck because she didn't want to leave Henson alone with her vehicle, said they stopped on an unknown road to retrieve the blue four-wheeler, which Henson is accused of stealing on July 30 from a home on Pickens Street in Nelson.

These bizarre series of events allegedly involving Henson don't end there. On Aug. 4, Henson is accused of stealing a Chevrolet truck and trailer from a home in the 1300 block of Yellow Creek Road in Ball Ground, according to an incident report shared by the Sheriff's Office. Three witnesses observed the theft and followed the suspect, later identified as Henson.

The witnesses caught up with Henson at the corner of Yellow Creek Road at Ga. 369, and they noticed the suspect had put a four-wheeler on the trailer. They chased the suspect to Lower Creighton Road and Newt Green Road when Henson allegedly brandished a firearm towards the witnesses, the incident report adds. The three witnesses retreated, but Henson began to follow them. He continued his pursuit until he wrecked the truck and trailer. Henson fled the scene, the report adds.

Another sheriff's office report indicates he's also accused of burglarizing his grandparents' home in Waleska on July 23. Sheriff's office spokesperson Jay Baker said Henson, who faces additional charges, should be considered armed and dangerous and residents should not approach him. If you do see Henson or have any information on his whereabouts, you are urged to call 911.
