Armed Robber Tied Up Employee At Verizon Store: Cops

Canton police say the armed suspect stole an undetermined number of cell phones Wednesday morning.

CANTON, GA — Canton police detectives are asking the public to help them identify and track down the man accused of robbing a Verizon store at gunpoint and tying up an employee Wednesday morning.

Officers were dispatched around 10:30 a.m. June 13 to the incident at the store located at 3753 Marietta Highway, which is just north of Prominence Point Parkway. Preliminary information provided by officers indicates a man armed with a handgun entered the establishment, forced an employee into a backroom and tied the woman's hands and feet, the agency said in a press release.

The suspect fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cell phones, Canton police said. The employee, who was working alone at the time of the incident, was able to free herself and call 9-1-1. She did not report any injuries in the incident.

Police describe the suspect as a thin black male who appeared to be in his late 20s. He was also wearing a pink bandana over his face, sunglasses, a black hat and white gym shorts. Surveillance footage obtained from the store show the suspect arrived in a silver 2016 to 2018 Nissan Sentra.
