Babysitter Saves Family From Garage Fire In Canton: Police
A house fire Thursday morning severely damaged a house in the Bridgemill Community in Canton, but fortunately all occupants survived.
CANTON, GA — A baby sitter arriving at work Thursday morning saved the family she works for after she alerted them to a fire.
Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire this morning, shortly after 9 a.m. at 404 Juniper Mill Trace in the Bridgemill Community.
Cherokee County firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes to find black smoke coming from the garage.

According to one of the homeowners, their babysitter pulled up to see the smoke and called to tell her about it.
The homeowner was in the kitchen and opened the garage door to find smoke. She could also see the car on fire.

The homeowner, her mother and her three young children, ages 1, 4 and 7, were in the home when the fire occurred. Fortunately, they all got out safely.
The two-story brick structure sustained fire, smoke and water damage with most of the damage contained to the garage.
Cherokee County Fire Investigator, Cheri Collett, is investigating the cause of the fire. There were no injuries reported and Juniper Mill Trace was blocked until the fire operation was completed.
