Burn Ban To End For Some Cherokee County Residents

The burn ban will end Oct. 1 for residents in unincorporated areas of Cherokee County.

CANTON, GA — The annual burn ban will end Oct. 1 for Cherokee County, according to the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.

Residents of unincorporated Cherokee County will be allowed to burn yard debris until April 30, 2023, department officials said.

Yard debris is limited to natural vegetation, including leaves, pine straw and dry brush/limbs that are no more than 6 inches in diameter that have fallen or been cut from growth on a person's property.

Burning in a barrel is prohibited in unincorporated Cherokee County, department officials said.

Outdoor burning of yard debris is prohibited in the city limits of Ball Ground.

Residents that live in the city limits of Canton, Holly Springs and Nelson are encouraged to contact their city departments for information relating to local yard debris burning, department officials said.
