Canton 2017 Election Guide: Candidates, Polling Locations, Hours

CANTON, GA -- Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7, and voters in Canton and Cherokee County will head to the polls to have their say in municipal races.

So, how do you cast your vote Tuesday in Cherokee County? First, you need to find your polling place. This can be done by visiting the Georgia Secretary of State's My Voter Page and entering your first initial, last name, your date of birth and choosing the county in which you reside.

The site will then provide the name of your municipal and county polling locations and their addresses. Voters will be asked to provide a photo ID when voting in-person. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

City of Canton residents will consider three races -- two of which are contested -- on their municipal ballots. Those residents, along with unincorporated Cherokee County voters, will also consider renewing the existing sales tax collected by the county.

There is one caveat to Tuesday's race: Canton voters will be able to vote for the county SPLOST renewal question at the same location as their municipal polling location. However, city of Woodstock voters will have to vote at the Woodstock Public Library for the municipal races, but make the trip to their county precincts for the SPLOST renewal question. Woodstock residents can verify their county precincts by visiting the My Voter Page referenced above.
