Canton Attorney Joins Cherokee Magistrate Court
William Carlan recently took the oath of office.

William E. Carlan was recently sworn in as the newest associate judge of the Magistrate Court of Cherokee County.
Chief Probate Judge Keith Wood administered the oath of office in a ceremony attended by family, judges and members of the local bar.
Judge Carlan has five years of trial experience. He studied law at the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in Macon where he received the CALI Award for highest academic excellence in International Law and Pre-Trial Advocacy.

Judge Carlan is general counsel of Verifaz, Inc. in Canton. Judge Carlan is an Eagle Scout, he was a legislative intern for U.S. Senator Zell Miller, the immediate past president of the Blue Ridge Bar Association and he serves on the board of directors of local charitable organizations.
