Canton Election 2021: City Council Unofficial Results In

CANTON, GA — Election Day is over in Canton, and voters have cast their ballots in the 2021 municipal election. As of 10:12 p.m., unofficial results from Cherokee County said all six Canton precincts had been reported.

This year, voters in Canton decided on races for City Council.

Only one person qualified for each of the three open Ward seats. For Ward 1, incumbent Sandra McGrew garnered all 2,079 votes. Incumbent Will Carlan took all 2,049 votes for Ward 2. Dwayne A. Waterman unofficially took Ward 3 with 2,064 votes.

The vote for an Ed-SPLOST, or Special Local Option Sales Tax for Education, showed an overwhelming vote for "yes," with nearly 11,000 of the 14,000 votes in favor.

The vote for a distilled spirits referendum showed more than 2,000 "yes" votes of the 2,400 votes.
