Canton Elementary School Wins STEM Education Award
The awards were presented by the Technology Association of Georgia.
CANTON, GA -- Canton Elementary School STEM Academy has been named a winner in the 2016 STEM Education Awards.
Presented by the Technology Association of Georgia, the awards were announced during the fifth annual STEM Education Awards Dinner held Friday, Nov. 4 at the Loudermilk Conference Center in Atlanta.
2016 was the second consecutive year that Canton was named a finalist in the elementary school division in the competition.

STEM Education Specialist Dr. Judy Wright accepted the award on behalf of Canton Elementary. Present on stage with Dr. Wright in accepting the award were Principal Beth Long and STEM Program Coordinator Emma Griffin.
The Rotary Club of Canton, which has provided more than $20,000 in grants to Canton Elementary School over the last four years for its STEM education program and other initiatives, was represented at the awards dinner by Past Assistant Governor and Past President Peter Gleichman.

The only thing missing from the excitement of receiving the award was the presence of Canton Elementary School STEM Specialist David Cornn, who could not attend.
Responding to a text that school was the winner, Cornn simply responded with his typical humility: "Awesome!"
