Canton Police Release Lip Sync With A Cop Video

The Canton Police Department's video was filmed last week at Etowah River Park with numerous residents, children and elected officials.

CANTON, GA — The Canton Police Department has released its version of the popular lip sync challenge that's become another way for law enforcement agencies to put a human face on a profession that most of us only encounter when we're having a bad day.

The department's Lip Sync with a Cop concert is a roughly 7-minute video featuring officers singing and dancing along to Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors, 'You've Got a Friend in Me" by Randy Newman and "Cupid Shuffle" by Cupid.

The video for the challenge was filmed last week at Etowah River Park, with members of the police force "rocking out" on stage with an enthusiastic crowd made up of elected officials, stakeholders and numerous families. Dozens of children also danced along with the music and held signs showing their support of the Canton Police Department.

At the end of the video, Chief Mark Mitchell marveled at the turnout and the positive energy from the audience. The agency began talking about the lip sync challenge about a week ago and when they put the call out on Facebook seeking community involvement, "it took off," the chief said.

Having that mindset of community partnerships and protecting the city "is a testament of the work we do between our department and our citizens."

"It's not two separate things, we are all in this together," he said. "This is very indicative of the wonderful and the supportive community we have here in the city."

In a Facebook post releasing the video, the agency also thanked city leaders and staff members for their cameo appearances, as well as gymnasts, dancers and soccer players who joined officers and "provided so much energy and fun to our concert."
