That’s because the company the Georgia Department of Revenue utilizes to send out these notices has “ceased operations,” the local tax office said on its Facebook page.
According to the Department of Revenue’s press release, the vendor contracted to print and mail the notices on behalf of local tag offices ”has been faced with several operational and production related issues and therefore unable to fulfill their contractual obligations.”

“This has resulted in a severe delay in the mailing of notices to vehicle owners, specifically the October renewal reminder mailing,“ the state said. “The October renewal mailings should be received by motor vehicle owners by the first of October. The Department of Revenue is working on getting the November notices mailed as quickly as possible.“
Cherokee County Tax Commissioner Sonya Little added that while the timeframe of the November notices has not been ironed out, ”we are hopeful that the delays will be minimized as much as possible.”
