Canton Students Awarded Oak Leaf Church, Aramark Scholarships

The students from the six Cherokee County traditional high school were recently recognized for their achievements.

CANTON, GA -- Several graduating seniors in the Cherokee County School District are the winners of scholarships presented by Aramark and Oak Leaf Church.

One of the district's major system priorities is increasing parental and community involvement through public engagement policies and practices that treat parents, businesses, community-based organizations and agencies, local institutions of higher learning and other public entities as true partners in the educational process.

As part of its partnership agreement with the school district, Aramark Education awards a $500 college scholarship to two outstanding class of 2016 graduating seniors from each Cherokee County's six traditional high schools.

The Aramark Scholarship Committee selected the following winners for a total of $6,000 in scholarships, who recently were recognized at a Cherokee County School Board meeting:

  • Cherokee High School: Nishi Patel and Logan Willis;
  • Creekview High School: Peyton Heath and Alyssa Powell;
  • Etowah High School: Elizabeth Joann Dillard and Aaron Torres;
  • River Ridge High School: Kaila Banker and Pierce Livesay;
  • Sequoyah High School: Madison Evans and William “Will” Garrett Sanders; and
  • Woodstock High School: Connor Booz and Bree'ara Murphy.

As part of its partnership agreement with the system, Oak Leaf Church awards one $1,000 college scholarship a graduating senior from Cherokee.

The Oak Leaf Church Scholarship Committee selected Bailee Gilbreath as this year's recipient, and she also recently was recognized at a Cherokee County School Board meeting.
