Car Strikes Van, Nearly Plunges Into Hole at Construction Site
The two-vehicle collision was reported Monday morning on Hightower Road at Ball Ground Road.
BALL GROUND, GA -- A Cherokee County woman was transported to an area hospital Monday morning following a two-vehicle collision near Ball Ground.
Crews with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to the crash around 9:30 a.m. Jan. 23 at the intersection of Ball Ground Road and Hightower Road.
Emergency service personnel arrived on scene to find a Toyota Camry collided with the back of a Honda passenger van.

Witnesses at the scene told 911 dispatchers that the driver of the Toyota, a 75-year-old woman, was "entrapped" in the passenger vehicle, the agency said. While bystanders were able to open the door of the, the motorist was unable to get out of the Camry.
Preliminary reports indicate the Toyota hit the van, which was driven by the woman's 79-year-old husband, Cherokee County fire added. Following the collision, the Toyota left the roadway and came to a stop just before falling into a 8 foot-by-10-foot hole at a construction site.

The driver was transported to North Fulton Hospital. She was conscious and alert when crews arrived, but "had a bone extruding from her right ankle," Cherokee County fire added.
Her husband reported no injuries, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
