Charter School's "Project Learning Tree"
Second Grade students at Cherokee Charter Academy have "adopted" two trees on the school's Canton campus.
Project Learning Tree is the CCA Second Grade’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) project for the 2015-2016 school year.
Here’s their plan:
· Observe the pair of trees throughout the school year to monitor their seasonal changes & life cycles

· Collect data about the trees to share with a national network of citizen scientists monitoring plants throughout the seasons
· Visually display the trees’ seasonal evolution (from green leaves & apples to changing colors & falling leaves to winter “skeletons” and finally bursting blossoms) on a “Whole Language Tree” display in CCA’s main hallway

The second graders will also work to keep the adopted trees healthy & protected by providing water, mulch, compost & organic fertilizers as needed.
