Cherokee Career Expo Showcases Local Job Opportunities

The Cherokee Office of Economic Development will host its third annual event March 15 in Canton.

CANTON, GA -- More than 75 percent of Cherokee County residents leave their homes every morning to go to work in a different county when there are great opportunities right in their own back yards.

With that in mind, the Cherokee Office of Economic Development wants you to #ForgetTheCommute and seek out new career opportunities closer to home.

The organization and the Georgia Department of Labor will sponsor the third annual Cherokee County Career Expo, which will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 15 at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center in Canton.

“The Cherokee Career Expo will showcase our diverse group of impressive companies and their current job opportunities,” said COED President Misti Martin. “Since 78 percent of Cherokee’s residents commute to work out of the county every day, this is a perfect opportunity for those individuals to find employment closer to home and get hours back with home and family.”

Anyone needing résumé assistance can take advantage of this service beginning at 1 p.m. from representatives of Reinhardt University and Chattahoochee Technical College's career services centers.
