Cherokee Charter Academy 3rd Grade Elves Light Up the Holidays for Local Youth

By: Lailah Ramsey 7th grade and Taelor White 7th grade

Santa’s elves are already working diligently to make this holidays a joyous time for children all across the world. Here at CCA, the students in Mrs. Chapman’s 3rd grade class have caught the holiday spirit, as they worked together to buy gifts for two angels from the angel tree.

In a short amount of time, Mrs. Chapman’s students raised $170 of their own money! “Students did chores and work around their houses to earn money for the angels they selected. After we collected the money, we went shopping together to pick out the gifts from the lists,” Mrs. Chapman exclaimed. “The students were so excited to be able to help other children, but more importantly, I think they learned a valuable lesson about giving and doing something good for someone else!”

The students actually went above and beyond by choosing two ornaments from the tree; one ornament was for an eight-year old-boy, and the other, for an eight-year-old girl. Now, the young boy and girl will truly be de-lighted on Christmas morning when they receive their gifts!

This act of kindness from the students in Mrs. Chapman’s 3rd grade class is an amazing illustration of how the youth are helping make the community, and the world, a better place!
