Cherokee Charter Academy Dedicates Elementary STEM Lab
Cherokee Charter had the privilege of honoring a dear parent who spent much time volunteering at our school. Karen Collins passed away on August 3rd. Her husband approached Principal Wallis to let her know that they asked for friends and family to make contributions tothe school in lieu of flowers. He asked for the school to decide on a purpose for the funds raised. The leadership team made the decision that all funds raised will go towards the elementary STEM lab. On Monday, August 27th,the school held a ceremony to dedicate the lab to Mrs. Collins. Together, her friends and family donated $15,000 to purchase supplies forthe STEM lab. The school plans to purchaseiPads, probes, a 3-D printer and other STEM kits for student use in the lab. Mrs. Wallis states, “I am humbled to be able to remember Karen’s legacy. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to continue to supplement our elementary curriculum”.
