Cherokee Co. Man Convicted Of Assaulting Girlfriend: DA

The 36-year-old man was convicted of false imprisonment, battery and other charges.

CHEROKEE COUNTY — A 36-year-old Waleska man was convicted of assaulting his girlfriend after a three-day trial this week, Cherokee County District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway said Thursday.

Treadaway said Bradley Scott McDaniel was convicted Wednesday of family violence aggravated assault, false imprisonment, three counts of family violence battery, two counts of third-degree cruelty to children and simple battery.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office began investigating McDaniel on Feb. 13 after Treadaway said the woman escaped from McDaniel during an incident and ran to a neighbor, who notified authorities.

Eight witnesses testified in the trial against McDaniel, Treadaway said.

Superior Court Judge Shannon Wallace is expected to sentence McDaniel in January 2024, Treadaway said.
