Commissioners voted to approve the total rate at 9.900 mills, down slightly from 9.908 millage rate adopted in 2014.
Broken down, the new rate includes: 5.720 mills for the general fund (down from the advertised proposed general fund millage rate of 5.728); 3.436 for the fire district and .744 for the parks bond.

Commissioners also adopted the millage rate for the Cherokee County School Board, which comes in at 19.45 mills.
The county plans to implement a 5 percent cost-of-living adjustment for employees, and use $590,000 in reserves to make up for the slight rollback according to the Cherokee Ledger-News.
