Cherokee County Coronavirus Update: 1,058 cases, 39 Deaths

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — As of Wednesday, there are a total of 1,058 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Cherokee County, according to the Georgia Department of Health.

In Cherokee County, there have been 39 coronavirus-related deaths as of Wednesday and 161 hospitalizations. According to the data, there are approximately 397 positive cases per every 100,000 people in the county.

The Georgia Department of Community Health has also released a report showing the number of COVID-19 cases in nursing homes and long-term care facilities in the county. COVID-19 is the disease caused by the new coronavirus. The reported cases at Cherokee County nursing homes are as follows:

• The Arbor Bridgemill: 1 confirmed staff case
• Benton House of Woodstock: 10 confirmed resident cases; 10 confirmed staff cases; 3 resident deaths
• Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation/Canton: 2 confirmed resident cases; 2 confirmed staff cases
• Brickmont Woodstock SPE: 1 confirmed staff case
• Canton Nursing Center: 47 confirmed resident cases; 34 confirmed staff cases; 11 resident deaths
• Insignia of Towne Lake: 2 confirmed resident case; 1 confirmed staff case
• Legacy Ridge at Neese Road: 1 confirmed resident case; 1 resident death
• Legacy Ridge at Woodstock: 1 confirmed resident case; 1 confirmed staff case
• Oaks at Towne Lake: 3 confirmed resident cases
• Retreat at Canton: 8 confirmed resident cases; 6 confirmed staff cases; 1 resident death
• Woodstock Nursing & Rehab Center: 2 confirmed resident cases; 2 confirmed staff case

As of Wednesday, there have been 60,030 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, 9,543 hospitalized patients and 2,575 deaths in the state, according to the Georgia Department of Health. Most of the top 10 counties with the highest number of coronavirus cases and deaths are in the metro Atlanta area.

According to the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine, there have been more than 2.1. million confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States, with more than 117,000 deaths. More than 583,000 have recovered in the U.S. Worldwide, there are more than 8.2 million cases and 445,000 deaths.
