Cherokee County Firefighters Observe 9/11 With Memorial Stair Climb
The 2022 Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb honored Terry Farrell, a late New York-based firefighter.

ATLANTA, GA — Cherokee County firefighters participated Sunday in the 2022 Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Truist Park.
The fundraiser was held in honor of the 343 firefighters who were killed in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, according to a release from the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.

According to its website, the New York-based organization was founded in honor of Terry Farrell, who was killed while serving with Rescue 4/New York City Fire Department. Farrell was the past chief of the Hicksville and Dix Hills fire departments.
The Fund supports the families of firefighters across the United States with educational and financial grants, according to the group's website.

Participants in the stair climb were Capt. Ric Mitchell, Lt. Jon Gottfried and fire apparatus operators Reggie Thurman, Beau Witcher, Brice Futch, Ryan Laughridge, Lucas Vasquez and Will Greene.
