Cherokee Sheriff's Office To Conduct Concentrated Patrols

The sheriff's office, along with the Appalachian Trail Traffic Enforcement, will conduct heavy patrols on May 25 to ensure road safety.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA -- The Cherokee Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit will conduct a road check and concentrated patrols on Thursday May 25, according to a press release. The Traffic Enforcement Unit will be working with the Appalachian Trail Traffic Enforcement Network.

The collaboration of this traffic safety initiative is part of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety "100 days of Summer Heat," the press release said. During the road check, law enforcement officers will enforce seat belt infractions, impaired driving, excessive speeds and improperly secured children in car safety seats.

"Our goal is to make the roads safer for travel and we hope this can be accomplished through voluntary compliance," the release said.
