CANTON, GA — Heron Pond residents donated Tuesday more than $5,200 to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, according to Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.

The residents dropped the money off to the fire department's Station 7, the department said, adding 10 percent of the funds raised will be used to help provide smoke alarms for those in need.

"The mission of the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation is to partner with the fire
service and burn care community to provide fire safety and prevention education, support
medical facilities and assist burn survivors in their recovery," the department said.
