When is the first day of school for Cherokee County Schools? Plus, other must-know dates for students, parents and teachers.
CANTON, GA — The summer has (nearly) come and gone, and your little ones will soon return to classes in the Cherokee County School District. The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 1 for students, with pre-planning set for July 25, July 27 and July 30-31 for teachers.
Here are some other notable dates for the 2018-19 calendar:
- Aug. 1: first day of school
- Sept. 3: school holiday
- Sept. 17-21: school holiday
- Oct. 8: professional learning day; student holiday
- Nov. 6: professional learning day; Election Day; student holiday
- Nov. 19-23: student holiday
- Dec. 24-28: student holiday
- Dec. 31 - Jan. 4: student holiday
- Jan. 7, 2019: teacher planning; student holiday
- Jan. 8, 2019: first day of second semester
- Jan. 21, 2018: student holiday
- Feb. 18-19: student holiday
- Feb 20-22: potential student holiday or inclement weather makeup days (to be determined)
- April 1-5: student holiday
- May 27: student holiday
- May 29: last day of school
- May 30-31: professional learning/post planning
