Cherokee Detention Center Gets Medical Accreditation

The detention center met standards for 38 of 38 factors.

CANTON-SIXES, GA - From The Cherokee Sheriff's Office: The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office would like to announce it has again been awarded a Certificate of Accreditation from the National Commission on Correctional Health Care for the Adult Detention Center.

The National Commission on Correctional Health Care is dedicated to improving the quality of correctional health services and helping correctional facilities provide effective and efficient care. For our agency to receive this accreditation there are 40 essential standards of which 38 were applicable to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. Of the 38 applicable standards the ADC was found to be in compliance with all 38 standards. There are also 27 important standards of which 25 are applicable to our facility and 24 were found to be in compliance. On February 9, 2018 the Accreditation Committee voted to accredit the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Center.
