Cherokee School Bus Hit Tuesday Morning, Driver Missing: Police

One child was on a school bus Tuesday morning when it was hit by another car, the sheriff's office said. The driver then ran from the scene.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — A school bus was hit early Tuesday morning in Cherokee County with one student on board who was unharmed, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office said.

Just before 6:30 a.m., the school bus was traveling near Hwy 369 just east of Hwy 372 when a Honda Accord crossed the center line and hit the bus.

Cherokee Sheriff’s spokesman Jay Baker told the AJC that the driver of the Honda ran away and has not been found.

Only one student was onboard but was not hurt and neither was the bus driver, the sheriff's office said.

The roadway was reopened around 9 a.m.
