Cherokee Schools Make Decision About Jan 8 Classes
BREAKING: The National Weather Service states freezing rain is expected to move into the area early Monday.

CANTON, GA — The Cherokee County School District will join its counterparts around the area and cancel classes and close its offices for Monday, Jan. 8.
The system said it made its decision due to the National Weather Service's Winter Weather Advisory calling for "freezing rain accumulation and travel impacts for Cherokee County tomorrow morning."
Other systems around metro Atlanta have also canceled classes for Jan. 8, including Atlanta, Decatur, Cartersville, Cobb, DeKalb, Bartow and Fulton.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that "periods of freezing rain will cause travel difficulties," so motorists and residents need to be prepared for slippery roads.
NWS notes the freezing rain will result in "difficult" travel conditions during Monday morning's commute. Elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses will be most susceptible to icing, the bulletin states. If you must travel, please slow down and use caution while driving.
