Cherokee Schools Returning To In-Person Learning On Monday

Cherokee County Schools announced students will return to the classroom on Monday, following a week of digital learning.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — Cherokee County Schools announced students will return to the classroom on Monday, following a week of digital learning.

Superintendent Brian Hightower thanked multiple people in a statement, including parents for their patience during the temporary closure as the district worked to return staffing levels to its operational needs. He also thanked teachers and support staff for their work to continue providing engaging instruction and services to students.

"While COVID-19’s impact on our operations has lessened enough to allow for Monday’s reopening, please be advised that we will continue to temporarily close classrooms, schools or CCSD as a whole as needed throughout the remainder of the school year," Hightower said in the statement. "Please continue to report your child’s positive test to their school; if you or anyone in your household is directed to quarantine, please follow the instructions and limit interaction with non-family members. Our expectation is that all students who return to in-person school will wear a mask when they cannot social distance; if your child does not have a mask, he or she can request two reusable masks from the school."
