Cyclist Hit, Killed On Hwy. 5 Near Ball Ground

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — A man was killed Saturday morning while riding his bike along Hwy. 5 after he was hit by a car.

Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Captain Jay Baker said deputies were dispatched to a cyclist struck by a car on Saturday morning at 5:30 a.m. on Hwy. 5 near Commerce Lane in Ball Ground.

A Jeep Renegade traveling southbound hit an adult man on a bicycle, also traveling southbound, Baker said.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident, which occurred prior to daylight, remains under investigation by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit, Baker said.

No charges have been filed, and no names are being released yet.
