DNR Hosts Wildlife Tag Day in Canton

The event will showcase several animals on Thursday, April 20 at the Cherokee County Tax Commissioner's Office.

CANTON, GA -- The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will host its Wildlife Tag Day event in Cherokee County on Thursday, April 20.

The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cherokee County Tax Commissioner's office in Canton.

DNR will host the event in the county because Cherokee had the highest increase in Wildlife tag sales and renewals, Chief Deputy Tax Commissioner Dana McKinzie said.

The state will have a Bald Eagle, screech owl, red tailed hawk, muskrat, beaver, spotted skunk, pine snake, corn snake and a box turtle on site.

DNR representatives will be available to answer any questions and to make the public aware of how they can upgrade to a Wildlife Tag of their choice for only $25, which will help support the Georgia Wildlife Conservation.

They will also be distributing free promotional items such as key chains and coloring books.

The Tax Commissioner's Canton office is located at 2780 Marietta Highway.
