The Ford, driven by 17-year-old Tiffany M. Beasley of Canton, stopped to wait for an opportunity to make a left turn onto Avery Road when “for unknown reasons, the Comcast truck steered to the left to avoid hitting the Ford, and traveled into the westbound lanes striking the Chevy pickup head-on,” Young stated.
The driver of the Chevy, identified as Canton resident Dwight C. Kelley, 58, died in the wreck. Beasley and the driver of the Comcast truck, 39-year-old Anthony S. Conner of Waleska, were transported to Northside Hospital-Cherokee where they were treated for injuries.
Charges are pending the completion of GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team’s investigation. Return to Patch for updates.
