Driver Dies in Single-Vehicle Accident

The Canton Police Department is investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident that occurred just north of Cherokee High School.

Officers responded to a report of the accident on Marietta Highway at its intersection with Westview Street around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1.

Officers arrived onto the scene and found the driver of a silver, four-door car, Michael Lee Greene, 63, of Woodstock dead at the scene.

Police Chief Mark Mitchell said it appears the vehicle “ran off the roadway and down an embankment.” Traffic accident investigators are currently working to determine the cause and any contributing factors in the accident, Mitchell stated.
