Elderly Driver Killed When Car Strikes Tree

CANTON, GA -- A 75-year-old woman died Wednesday morning in a single vehicle accident in Cherokee County.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services crews responded to the crash around 10:30 a.m. in the 4500 block of East Cherokee Drive in the Hickory Flat community near Canton.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the 2000 Mercedes E320 was traveling westbound on the highway when it left the roadway and hit a utility pole.

The driver, Joan Comm, 75 of Canton, died at the scene. The accident remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
