Fire Department Puts New Squads Into Service
The squads are custom-built ambulances that will provide a safer, smoother and more comfortable ride for passengers.
CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services put two new squads into service last week. One of the squads will be located at Fire Station No. 1, located on 100 Old Bascomb Court off Bells Ferry Road, and the other will be located a Fire Station No. 7, located at 1530 Barnes Road in Woodstock.
“The new squads were ordered in April 2019, and we took delivery of them last month," EMS Chief, Nate Sullivan said. "The squads are 2019 Ford F-450 custom-built ambulances that were constructed by Osage Ambulance in Osage, Missouri.”
Osage was selected because of the quality of their craftsmanship and their structural integrity which provides a safe ride for patients and providers in the event of an accident.

The new squads feature “liquid spring” suspension that digitally reduces the box tilting and provides a much smoother and more comfortable ride for patients. They also feature a safer stretcher securing system that has been proven to reduce patient injuries in accidents.
“They were inspected and approved by the State Office of EMS and Trauma on Thursday and put into service later that afternoon,” Sullivan said.
