Fire Destroys Canton Home
The fire started around 3 p.m. Monday on Pearidge Lane. The residents were able to escape without suffering any injuries.

A one-story home was destroyed Monday afternoon by a fire just north of Canton.

Crews with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and Canton Fire Department responded to a fire this afternoon just before 3 p.m. June 8 to a home on Pearidge Lane near its intersection with Cross Street in unincorporated Canton.
Pearidge Lane sits off Pearidge Road near Reinhardt College Parkway/S.R. 140.

Firefighters arrived at the house to find flames and heavy smoke coming from the one-story, white brick structure. The residents of the home were able to escape without injury.
Unfortunately, the fire destroyed the home and a majority of its contents. A black Ford SUV was also destroyed in the fire.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
