MUST Ministries Offers Free Food Safety Certification Class

The two-day training will help job seekers find employment in the restaurant industry.

MUST Ministries is partnering with ServSafe to host a free food safety certification class for job seekers in June.

The class will take place at MUST’s Marietta location, 1407 Cobb Parkway N., Marietta, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., June 28-29. Deadline for applications is June 21.

ServSafe is a nationally-recognized food safety and sanitation program. The two-day free training will cover basic food safety, guidelines for food preparation and holding, prevention of foodborne illnesses, cross-contamination and allergens, personal hygiene and cleaning and sanitation.

Participants will also be awarded free safety shoes if the final exam is passed.

"Employers always seek the most qualified candidate," said Beth Ray, Program Director of Employment Services for MUST. "They report that, if two candidates are equal, they will always select the candidate with the certificate to reduce training costs and increase worker safety."

Interested participants may pick up an application at any MUST location and also will need to complete MUST's 4-hour Back-to-Work workshop to establish base-line employment skills. Additionally, applicants will need to complete an interest inventory and provide a copy of their resume, photo ID and social security number.
