GBI Investigating After Man Fatally Shot By Canton Police: Report
A man died on Saturday after Canton Police were called to the home he was in after hearing gunshots, according to reports.
CANTON, GA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer involved shooting in Canton that left one man dead. No officers were injured.
The Canton Police Department requested the GBI conduct an independent investigation on March 26.
At 1:19 a.m. on Saturday, the Cherokee 911 Center received an "unknown trouble call" from a home on Parkbrook Way. The woman calling said there was a man in the home with a gun.

Canton Police were told by the woman that the man was in a room with a gun. As officers approached the room, they heard gunfire. An officer fired his weapon at the man, hitting him. Preliminary evidence suggests that one of the gunshot wounds on the man is self-inflicted.
The man was identified as To Vung, 38, of Canton.

Vung was pronounced dead at the scene. He will be taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The GBI will conduct an independent investigation. Once complete, the case file will be given to the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review
