Georgia Power Foundation Donates $8,000 To ADay For Reinhardt
ADay for Reinhardt funds scholarships for university students from Cherokee County.

WALESKA, GA -- ADay for Reinhardt relies on community support to help fund scholarships for students who live in Cherokee County.
The Georgia Power Foundation has long been a strong supporter of ADay for Reinhardt, which underwrites the Cherokee County Grant Program, and 2017 is no different.
“Georgia Power’s first president/CEO coined the phrase, ‘A Citizen Wherever We Serve,’ which is still our commitment to the communities we serve,” said Rod Drake, area manager for Georgia Power. “We work, live and raise our families here and want to do our part in making Cherokee County the best it can be.”

The Georgia Power Foundation donated $8,000 to ADay for Reinhardt to help offset educational costs to Cherokee County students attending Reinhardt University. The scholarship has three levels of support, ranging from $500 to $2,000 per year.
Since its inception, ADay for Reinhardt has raised more than $4.8 million for local students, and the Georgia Power Foundation has been there since it launched in 1988.

The late Bill Wester, who retired as Georgia Power's Canton manager, also chaired the campaign during its second year, which was 1989-90.
Dale Morrissey, director of development and external relations for Reinhardt University, said the community support for ADay for Reinhardt, both in financial and volunteer contributions, is paramount.
“By supporting ADay for Reinhardt, you are investing in your neighbors, their children and their grandchildren, and you are investing in the employees of tomorrow,” Morrissey said. “We are so thankful for organizations, including the Georgia Power Foundation, for their continued support.”
Drake noted how he's able to see in the community how ADay for Reinhardt is helping local residents.
“Reinhardt University is part of the bedrock of the county, playing an enormous part preparing students for the ongoing labor force needs,” he said. “We, like many other companies’ work force needs, continue to grow and through the ADay for Reinhardt campaign we can assist financially the Cherokee County students.”
ADay for Reinhardt is a year-round campaign, and contributions are tax-deductible. Throughout the year, Reinhardt University hosts events in support of ADay for Reinhardt, including the 5K for ADay held each fall.
