Larry Mize returned to the Golf Classic this year in support of Reinhardt’s efforts. Mize, an Augusta native, presently plays on the Champions Tour and retained his membership in the PGA Tour for 20 seasons.

He is well-known for one career-beginning shot – a chip from off the green at the 11th hole at Augusta to win the playoff for the 1987 Masters Tournament.

At the tournament, Mize was positioned on #3, the par across the lake, where he hit the first ball for each group. Each team had the option to select Mize’s ball and play it for $50.

This year 27 teams participated in playing Mize’s ball, which brought in an additional $1,300 in scholarship funds for Reinhardt students.

Doug Edwards, Rocky Hendrix, Wes Latimer and Ryan Morley-Stockton were the winners of the First Low Gross award. Their team was sponsored by the Bank of North Georgia.
